In a condolence video message from London, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder Altaf Hussain has said that he wants to let bygones be bygones on the death of former party member Aamir Liaquat Hussain.

“What Aamir Liaquat did to me and my associates in the past is between Aamir Liaquat and Allah,” said Hussain, who currently heads MQM-London.

In 2016, Liaquat had claimed that his life was in danger while saying that the party’s former head would be responsible if harm were to befall him. Liaquat’s statement came following Altaf Hussain’s anti-Pakistan speech that was televised in Karachi, resulting in

“He sent an apology to me around a month ago,” said Altaf in the video message without clarifying what was the apology for.

On other occasions, Aamir Liaquat had hailed Altaf Hussain as his “leader” and even advocated for resumption of government-level talks with Altaf to end his self-imposed exile.

Aamir Liaquat came from a family that has a long association with the MQM. Liaquat also joined politics from the MQM platform and was one of the trusted aides of Altaf Hussain.

“All I would like to say about him that may his sins be forgiven,” said Altaf while offering a prayer for the departed.
