BADIN, SINDH: A woman riding a motorbike is a rare sight in most Pakistani cities. In rural Sindh, it was unheard of until Ameena Khaskheli came along.

A lady health worker who is also part of the polio vaccination campaign, Ameena rides her bike to go to far-flung areas to ensure every child gets vaccinated.

“If a woman sets her mind on something, she can do everything that a man can,” Khaskheli told Aaj News. A believer in equality, she said that women aren’t weak and it is the society that tries to oppress them.

Ameena’s story is one of courage and inspiration. One of seven sisters, she has decided to hold off on marriage for the sake of her siblings. She has married off two of her sisters and hopes to do the same for the remaining four sisters.
