It has asked the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority for a record of the speech Imran Khan made in Peshawar at a workers’ convention on April 26.

The ECP also asked for records of Haleem Adil Sheikh, Khurram Sher Zaman and Senator Ijaz Chaudhry’s speeches at the same rally.

The PTI chairman had lashed out at Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, calling him a “planted agent” of the PML-N. “Raja has lost all his credibility and he should immediately resign,” he had said.

The ECP rejected the allegation that CEC was taking decisions against the PTI “alone”, saying this perception was “wrong and absurd.”

The ECP clarified that the commission is a constitutional body which makes decisions in light of the Constitution and the law.

“Some people are deliberately and maliciously giving the impression that decisions are being taken by the ECP individually, which is totally wrong and absurd.”

The statement said that since January 2020, all the decisions in the Election Commission have been unanimous, and no dissenting note has been given.
