According to a statement issued by the President’s Secretariat, issues relating to the political and economic situation in the country were discussed during the meeting.

Earlier, sources said that the two leaders would discuss the appointment of new governors in all the four provinces and the crisis that erupted after Punjab Governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema postponed the oath-taking ceremony of chief minister-elect Hamza Shehbaz.

It is pertinent to mention here that President Alvi skipped the oath- taking ceremonies of both PM Shehbaz and his cabinet due to health reasons.
