Pakistan reports ‘all-time low virus statistics’ since start of pandemic

The National Institute of Health on Tuesday said that the country has reported all-time low Covid-19 statistics since the first wave of the novel coronavirus during the last 24 hours.

The NIH, which now serves as the centre of the country’s unified efforts to contain the spread of novel coronavirus after the shutting of NCOC, shared the development in a tweet.

According to its daily statistics, the country’s Covid positivity ratio fell to 0.28 per cent. Moreover, 62 positive cases, one death, and 269 patients in critical care were reported. At least 21,437 Covid tests were conducted over the last 24 hours

In an earlier tweet, the NIH said: “Alhamdulillah, no COVID-related death was reported last week. This improvement happened for the first time in over 2 years!”

Moreover, the United States sent an additional 4.7 million Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine doses to Pakistan via COVAX – a global vaccine programme. According to the US State Department, they have so far donated over 61.5 million vaccines doses to Pakistan.

In a tweet, the US Department of State said: “As part of our ongoing solidarity with the people of Pakistan to combat COVID-19, the United States donated an additional 4.7 million Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine doses via #COVAX. In total, we have now donated over 61.5 million vaccines doses to Pakistan.”

According to the World Health Organisation, COVAX is co-led by CEPI, Gavi and the WHO, alongside key delivery partner UNICEF.

Despite the weakening Covid impact in the country, medical experts have advised the people to follow the Covid protocol and get the mandatory vaccine.
