&lt;p&gt;Opener Sarel Erwee top-scored for South Africa with 41.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The declaration came with a possible half-hour's play remaining on the third day although the floodlights were on in overcast conditions.&lt;/p&gt;
