SC in its verdict stated that deputy speaker Qasim Suri’s ruling was “contrary to the Constitution and the law and of no legal effect, and the same are hereby set aside.”

PML-N President and leader of opposition Shehbaz Sharif took to Twitter and termed the day “epoch-making.”

The PPP chairperson celebrated the verdict and quoted his late mother, “Democracy is the best revenge!”

“Congratulations to the nation on the supremacy of the Constitution. The work of the violators of the constitution is done forever,” said PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz.

Lawmakers and journalists rejoiced over the “victory” of the Constitution of Pakistan.

“Constitution of Pakistan survived another assassination attempt,” said journalist Hamid Mir.

“Supreme Court redeems itself,” said former editor of Dawn, Abbas Nasir in a tweet.

PTI officials reassured their supporters that PM Imran “will never disappoint his people.”

Human rights lawyers and activists called for the SC to listen to the national security council’s case to “expose the traitors.”
