Newly-appointed Ambassador to the US Masood Khan has discussed the Pakistan-United States relationship and military cooperation with a group of US Armed Forces and State Department officers from the National War College, amid the tensions between the two countries.

The United States on February 5 approved the appointment of Masood Khan as Pakistan’s new ambassador, three months after the latter’s appointment by the federal government. According to Foreign Office spokesperson Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, “The US government has conveyed its agreement to the appointment of Sardar Masood Khan as the Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States.”

The meeting comes as Prime Minister Imran Khan alleges that the United States is interfering in the internal affairs of Pakistan. Premier Imran, who claims to have a “threat letter” from the former envoy to the US, has alleged that the no-confidence motion against him is part of the foreign conspiracy to oust his government.

“Delighted to interact with a group of US Armed Forces and State Department officers from National War College. Briefed them on Pak-US relations, especially military cooperation and regional situation,” Masood said in a tweet on Friday.

Moreover, the US administration has several times rejected such allegations and called for the rule of law.

Pakistan receives Walt Disney nod

Masood, who was the former Azad Jammu and Kashmir president, earlier urged the Pakistani manufacturers to sign up for Better Work – a joint ILO-IFC programme for improving working conditions and business practices across the global garment industry.

I urge Pakistan manufacturers to sign up for the Better Work prog to capture their share in Walt Disney’s Global imports,” it read.
