Military is not involved in country's politics, says DG ISPR

Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar Sunday clarified that the military has "nothing to do with" whatever happened in the National Assembly today.

The military spokesperson was responding to a question regarding the rejection of the motion and dissolution of the assembly.

"Army has nothing to do with the political process," the DG ISPR said,

The DG ISPR's comments on the ongoing political situation came after President Arif Alvi approved the dissolution of the National Assembly on the advice of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The Supreme Court is aware of Sunday's political developments in the country on Sunday, the chief justice's office said.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Ata Bandial had taken the notice of current situation.

Meanwhile, the opposition and the government's legal teams have also reached the top court.

Opposition said that the move by the premier and his party to stop a vote seeking his ouster on Sunday, and dissolving the assembly, was unconstitutional.
