Today will be the last day of operation for the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), a body monitoring the Covid-19 situation, as the country shows "all-time low" virus indicators and a "high level of vaccination", said the body's chief and federal minister Asad Umar on Thursday.

Umar lauded his two-year association with the NCOC, saying chairing the body and working with the most dedicated team had been the "greatest privilege and honour of my life".

In his tweet, Umar mentioned that the responsibilities related to the monitoring of Covid-19 were being passed on to the health ministry.

In another tweet, the NCOC chief thanked Allah for his mercy and support to overcome the "unprecedented challenge" of Covid-19 and expressed immense pride as Pakistan also received "praise" for being "one of the most successful" countries in tackling the pandemic.
