Social media users expressed shock and horror after a video of a wedding party -- including children - enjoying a feast while the body of a murdered man was lying on the marrige hall floor went viral on social media.

According to the Punjab Police, the murdered man, identified as Ashraf, sold crackers in the streets of Patoki in Punjab's Kasur district.

The wedding party beat Ashraf to death over an argument. The guests then returned to their celebrations including enjoying the food as the hawker's lifeless body body lay in the wedding hall.

Following hue and cry on social media, the Punjab police chief took notice of the incident and directed Kasur DPO to immediately arrest those involved in the incident and punish them.

The video left many social media users speechless.

“Are we even human?” asked user Aman-ul-haq.

One user lamented the law and order situation in the country and the absence of the fear of consequence for one’s actions.

According to The News, Ashraf’s brother-in-law Pervez told the police that he was riding on a motorcycle with his friends outside the wedding hall when he saw the incident. He tried to rescue Ashraf but failed.

Punjab police have since arrested 12 people, including the wedding hall manager, in connection with the murder.
