The YouTuber shared the video of the alleged scam on his channel and said, “My first real negative experience in Karachi. 99% of people there are good but eventually I had to run into some criminals.”

The video shows Philip agreeing to one of the horsemen for a ride to Chunky Munky, an amusement park located near the beach, for Rs 200. However, when the ride starts, the YouTuber realizes that the horse is going into a different direction.

Philip repeatedly asks the horseman to stop so he can get off the horse but is ignored.

When they finally reach the spot from where the ride began, the horseman demands that Philip pays him Rs 5000.

Philip refuses to pay the amount.

The horsemen were taken into custody after Philip uploaded the video on YouTube, said South SSP Rai Ijaz Ahmed.

In a subsequent tweet, the foreigner posted a picture of one of the men and said, “Hopefully he learns there's no need to cheat foreign tourists.”

The post didn’t sit well with Paksitani Twitterati, who called out the YouTuber for his “white privilege” and getting the “poor” men arrested.

British-Pakistani television personality, George Fulton said, “You probably made more money in YouTube advertising from the video than what he was originally asking.”

“Him getting arrested should have been enough to satisfy your white supremacist ego. You really had to post this picture and degrade a person?” said a user.

Another person called out the entire travel vlogger community, who accept free things from vendors and post about it.

Instagram page leftistan2.0 compiled multiple tweets criticizing Philip for exploiting poor people for clout.

But not everyone was against Philip. Some sided with the vlogger and asked others to not make him the “culprit” in the situation.

This is the second incident where horsemen were accused of defrauding foreigners at Seaview beach. Earlier this month, Australian vlogger Luke Damant also uploaded a video in which a horseman tried to scam him. The horse owner was later arrested by the police.
