Twitter trolls were quick to allege that Azhar once called Ali his “sister,” based on a doctored screenshot. Responding to the trolls, Azhar said that he “never labelled Merub as” his sister. “To all reposting a screenshot of a “news channel” that said I had labelled Merub as my sister bec of a fake chat a fan had made, I clarified it a year ago,” he said.

In a subsequent tweet, he went on to add, “Clarification was important because the narrative was disgusting.”

Some user also dragged actor Hania Aamir, Azhar's ex, into the occasion. The two had made headlines in 2021 for airing their dirty laundry on Twitter post a bad break up.
