"The hard-hitting song #HumDekhenge from #TheKashmirFiles will touch your hearts," read a Zee Music Company tweet.

Social media users demanded that either the federal government or someone from the poet's family should file a "legal notice" for copyright issue against the "unauthorised use of content" as the song was an "intellectual theft" of Faiz's poetry.

Some suggestions were also pouring in for Faiz's family, saying they could report the issue on YouTube and the channel would be suspended if the poetry was stolen.

In response to allegations of "intellectual theft", director of film Vivek Agnihotri said he had officially taken rights to use the poetry of Faiz from Faiz House in Lahore. "Please don't spread fake news."

Some others were wondering what would be the response of Faiz House or the Pakistani government after knowing that the company used a copyright version of the poetry.

However, the discussion went beyond the copyright issues on the poetry as some users considered using Faiz's words for anti-Muslim and anti-Pakistan propaganda "one of the stupidest things" the user had ever witnessed.

Faiz wrote the poem "Hum Dekhengey" while he was in exile in London during former dictator Ziaul Haque's military rule in the country.

On March 11, India released movie The Kashmir Files primarily based on claims of exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Indian-occupied parts of the Kashmir valley during the insurgency. The movie was produced by Zee Studio and stars Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Pallavi Joshi and Mithun Chakraborty.
