The daily statistics showed that the countrywide positivity rate, with 1.29%, also fell to the lowest in three months. It further showed that as many as 29,216 tests were conducted in a single day with nine people dying due to Covid. It added that 778 patients were in critical care.

The NCOC forum, which serves as the nerve centre of the country’s unified efforts to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus, also shared the countrywide tally. According to the data, Sindh topped the list with maximum cases, 570,353, followed by Punjab (502,968), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (217,304), Islamabad (134,662), Azad Jammu and Kashmir (43,125), Balochistan (35,398), and Gilgit Baltistan (11,582).

Scrolling through the Covid statistics available of NCOC Twitter account, it was found that the Tuesday tally was the lowest since December 28, 2021, when 348 people were reported to be infected with the virus in a single day.

Moreover, as per the January 1 statistics, the Covid positivity rate stood at 1.08% out of the 51,141 tests conducted.

Quetta’s 0.00% Covid positivity rate reported on Monday was the latest update in the country’s further dampening coronavirus situation. In a tweet, the health ministry on Monday shared the national Covid-19 positivity ratio (February 28, 2022 - March 06, 2022).

According to medical experts, reduced following of public health measures have contributed to the Covid-19 surge in the country. They have several times stressed the need for practising protective health measures to stem the virus spread.

NCOC head Asad Umar on Sunday said that as many as 100 million people have been “fully vaccinated” against the coronavirus in Pakistan. In a tweet, he had termed the development a “major milestone” in the country’s effort to get rid of the virus and return to normalcy.

“More than 127 million have received at least one dose of the Covid vaccines. We are very close to achieving vaccination of all eligible citizens,” he had said.

The feat was also praised by the World Health Organization Pakistan in a tweet. It appreciated the government's efforts in the fight against Covid-19.
