      <title>Former president Rafiq Tarar passes away at 92

      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Former president Muhammad Rafiq Tarar passed away on Monday in Lahore after a prolonged illness. He was 92.&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;His grandson and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Attaullah Tarar took to Twitter to confirm his death.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Tarar was born on November 2, 1929. He served as the 28th Chief Justice of Lahore High Court from 1989 to 1991 and was then appointed a senior judge at the Supreme Court where he served from 1991 to 1994.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Later he joined politics and elected as a Senator from Punjab in 1997. Tarar was elected as the ninth president of the country from January 1998 until his resignation in June 2001.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif offered his condolences and prayed for his higher ranks in hereafter, saying Tarar had "honestly guided them".&lt;/p&gt;
