At least 796 coronavirus cases were reported over the last 24 hours in Pakistan, with the country’s Covid positivity rate standing at 2.10%, according to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data released on Sunday.

The country’s daily coronavirus statistics have shown that the impact of Covid-19 has dampened over the last 10 days, prompting the NCOC to ease Covid-induced restrictions, including those imposed at cricket stadiums.

Statistics from March 5 show that a total of 37,785 tests were conducted in a single day. Moreover, 10 people died and 842 patients were on critical care. Though the data has been fluctuating and shows slight increases, but over all cases have remained below 1,000 since the last six days and the Covid positivity rate has also remained below three per cent.

The NCOC forum, which serves as the nerve centre of the country’s unified efforts to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus, also shared the countrywide tally. According to the data, Sindh topped the list with maximum cases, 569,637, followed by Punjab (502,455), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (216,812), Islamabad (134,583), Azad Jammu and Kashmir (43,094), Balochistan (35,363), and Gilgit Baltistan (11,559).

Moreover, the health ministry data reported that the number of Covid active cases fall below the 30,000 mark, amid the weakening fifth of the Omicron variant of the virus.
