At least 890 patients were reported to be on critical care over the last 24 hours, the lowest daily statistics since January 18, according to the National Command and Operation Centre data released on Friday.

“Statistics 4 Mar 22: total tests in last 24 hours: 36,678; positive cases: 953; positivity %: 2.59%; deaths: 11; patients on critical care: 890,” the NCOC said in a tweet.

Moreover, the countrywide daily Covid tally showed that Sindh reported the maximum number of Covid infected patients, with 569,338, followed by Punjab (502,264), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (216,614), Islamabad (134,519), Azad Jammu and Kashmir (43,068), Balochistan (35,361), and Gilgit Baltistan (11,543).

The last time the country reported less than 900 coronavirus patients on critical care in a single day was on January 18, 2022.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan on Thursday said at least 65% population of the country had been fully inoculated against Covid.

At least 70% of students who are above 12 years had also been fully vaccinated against the virus, the SAPM tweeted.

Meanwhile, more than 99 million people across the country have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus pandemic, as per NCOC data. The forum, which serves as the nerve centre of the country’s unified efforts to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus, on February 1 started the first phase of a “massive” two-week-long door-to-door vaccination campaign countrywide to inoculate more than 35 million people as part of the country’s efforts to get ‘rid of the virus’ and return to normalcy.

According to medical experts, reduced following of public health measures have contributed to the Covid-19 surge in the country. They have several times stressed the need for practising protective health measures to stem the virus spread.
