The National Command and Operation Centre on Wednesday revised Covid-related policy for passengers travelling to Pakistan, abolishing pre-boarding negative PCR test for fully vaccinated inbound travellers.

The inbound policy, which comes into effect tomorrow (February 24), states that vaccination is mandatory for all adult inbound passengers. Travelers below 12 years of age are exempt from mandatory vaccination. Passengers traveling to Pakistan between 12 to18 years of age are allowed to travel without mandatory vaccination till March 31.

Only non-vaccinated individuals over 12 years of age will be required to submit a negative PCR test conducted 72 hours prior to their travel.

A rapid antigen test for coronavirus will be conducted on arrival at Boarder Terminals and those who test positive for Covid will be asked to quarantine at home for 10 days.

In related news, the country crossed 96 million mark of fully vaccinated people against Covid, as 389,409 people have been inoculated during the last 24 hours, according to the NCOC data.

On Tuesday, the NCOC removed Karachi, Hyderabad and Peshawar from the list of cities with Covid-induced restriction after witnessing a declining coronavirus trend there.

However, a slight increase in country-wide positive cases of virus recorded on Wednesday, with 1,232 people tested positive for the virus during the last 24 hours as against 961 cases which had been recorded a day ago.

The Covid positivity rate remained 2.95% across the country.

After days of decline in Covid fatalities, the country recorded 43 deaths of the virus during the last 24 hours, as per coronavirus monitoring body statistics.

Last time the country recorded 40 deaths from Covid on February 17.

Currently, 1,230 patients infected with the virus are on critical care.
