In a series of three posts, the model drives home the point that how a woman chooses to dress herself, is her choice and says “Although different forms of the hijab and head coverings are starting to make an appearance in fashion, let’s still remember the daily struggle, abuse, and discrimination Muslim women face on a regular basis because of their faith and what they stand for. To each woman’s body, stand their own opinion on what they should do with it. That is NO ONES decision except for theirs.”

She further shared a screenshot of an opinion piece with the headline “I do not have to choose between my hijab and education but my sister is not so lucky”, which talks about the recent Indian hijab row, and urged countries like France, Belgium, India and others that “are discriminatory against Muslim women, to rethink what decisions you have made or are trying to make in the future about a body that is not yours.”

She went on to say that it is not anyone’s job to allow women to study or play sports, especially when it pertains to their faith and safety. She called out the Islamphobia of the world while alleging that it is never acknowledged by the countries either. She further called out men for being egotistical for even thinking “that they have enough validity to make decisions for a woman in 2022”, calling this mindset laughable and saying that such men are “actually sick in the head”.

Quoting her friend @taqwabintali Hadid wrote “You know, at the root of it all, all of this is just much deeper than Islamophobia; it's pure sexism and misogyny. No matter the countries or the time men always want to control what a woman does and wears.”

In the third post, the supermodel shared a justice for Hoda poster, for a girl that was attacked by fellow students in a school in New Zealand and her hijab was ripped off on February 9. She urged for people to stop teaching hate just because someone wears a hijab or is Muslim or is “anything other than white in general”. She also urges people to stand up for their Muslim friends whenever possible.

She finally closes the post after urging people to love God, keep their faith and remember that it is always oppressors that are the problem.

Hadid has also been very vocal against Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestine, with even her Valentine's day post being a heart with the words, “will you free my Palestine” on them.

In May of last year, Hadid earned the ire of Israel with their official government Twitter page calling out the model for joining a pro-Palestine march in Los Angeles, America.
