At least three policemen have been injured in a grenade attack on Peshawar's Phandu police station, reported Dawn on Saturday.

The injured have been shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) for treatment.

In a video footage of the attack, which went viral on social media, a man could be seen hurling the hand grenades over the wall of the police station.

Soon after the attack officials and bomb disposal squads reached the spot and started collecting evidence, the report quoted the officials as saying.

Talking to media, Capital City Police Officer Abbas Ahsan gave details of the attack and said the unknown assailants hurled two hand grenades at the station, injuring three officials, while no casualty was reported.

Ahsan said "general threats" regarding police stations in the city had been received and security measures were subsequently taken. However, a threat specifically related to the Phandu Police Station had not been received, he added.

After collecting evidences, including the CCTV footage, from the site of the attack, an investigation has been launched into the incident, he added.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has remained a centre of attack on policemen. In the beginning of February, two police officials were killed and one was injured when unidentified assailants opened fire on a checkpoint in Jalozai area of Nowshera district.
