Did Elon Musk hack India’s information ministry's Twitter account?

The official Twitter account of India’s information and broadcasting ministry was hacked on Wednesday, and the hackers renamed the profile 'Elon Musk.'

Spam links were also posted on the profile with tweets “LOVE YOU GUYS!! MY GIFT HERE!!”, “GREAAT JOB” and “SOMETHING AMAZZZING!!!” urging people to open the links.

The account has since been restored. The pictures and tweets by the hackers have also been deleted.

This comes exactly after a month of India's prime minister's personal Twitter hack on December 12, 2021. During the short time the hackers had control of the account, they posted tweets promoting cryptocurrency from the profile.

One Twitter users seems to have grown tired of these breaches and called for the government to “take some basic steps to ensure security of the verified Twitter handles.”

Some users questioned the ministry’s ability to handle bigger external threats.

Another user called the Indian government a “laughing stock,” and it looks like it's going to be a bit difficult for the Indian government to get rights to their data.
