      <title>Islamabad reports ‘its first Omicron case’

      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Islamabad on Saturday reported its first case of the new coronavirus variant – Omicron, the National Institute of Health sources said, &lt;em&gt;Aaj News&lt;/em&gt; reported.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;They added that the infected person had no foreign travel history. The patient, who only had a travel history from Karachi, was out of danger, sources added.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;According to sources, the process of contact tracing was under way after the report of the first Omicron case in Islamabad.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Moreover, the Office of Deputy Commissioner Islamabad has also shared a similar development in a tweet. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;“First case of #OmicronVariant detected in Islamabad. The patient has a travel history from Karachi. We are tracing all his contacts now. Everyone plz get vaccinated and follow SOPs,” it read. This tweet was also shared by Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Muhammed Hamza Shafqaat.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;At least 12 suspected cases were found in Balochistan, Dawn reported on Wednesday. It had quoted Dr Naqibullah Niazi, the head of Operations Cell (Covid) in Balochistan, as saying on Tuesday that 12 out of the 32 cases to test positive for Covid-19 exhibited signs of the Omicron variant. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;As many as 48,148 coronavirus tests were conducted during the last 24 hours, as per the daily statistics of the National Command Operation Centre. It reported 353 positive cases, 0.73% of positivity ratio, seven deaths and 624 patients being on critical care.&lt;/p&gt;
