The victim, Arsalan Mehsud was shot dead in Orangi-5, while his friend sustained bullet injuries, reported Geo.

According to the police, they had tried to stop two men on a motorcycle at a picket. In response, the two men opened fire and tried to escape. One of the man died, while his accomplice managed to escape, they claim.

Mehud's family has rejected this claim and say he was killed in an encounter.

Quoting Mehsud's relatives, the report stated: "No firearm was recovered from Arsalan."

In a statement issued by NDM Sindh chapter central organizer Ibrahim Khan, the party demanded Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and higher police officials to constitute an inquiry commission and penalize the police officials involved in the brutal killing of the boy.

The party also demanded the lawmakers to make legislation to ensure that the extra-judicial killings won't happen in future.

Mehsud's relatives also demanded justice for the young boy and staged a sit-in at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital after hearing of the incident, according to the report.

Interestingly, DIG West Nasif Aftab also rejected the police version, saying the suspicious encounter did not take place at the picket. It took place at a distance from it, he added.

He also revealed the police personnel who fired at the youngsters was in plainclothes, not in his uniform. Aftab added the officer involved in the incident has been taken into custody.

The police has formed an inquiry committe comprising SSP Central, SSP Investigation Central and SP Gulberg to investigate the incident, while the SHO Orangi has been suspended over the incident.

The DIG West said the committee will present its report after 24 hours following which immediate action will be taken based on its findings.

Member of National Assembly Mohsin Dawar took to Twitter to take note of the incident: "Extra judicial killings continue with no consequences for the perpetrators."

Another user said Arsalan's death was represented of the systematic injustice in the country.

While demanding justice for Arsalan, one user tweeted that the boy was returning from tuitions when he was killed.

Others called on Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to look into the issue.

One user lamented that no one was safe.
