The protesters were holding banners and placards, demanding justice for Noor and the awarding of death penalty to the culprit.

While talking to the media, a protester said she and others gathered at the vigil for all women who have been harassed, molested and assaulted by men.

"We all are scared to leave our houses," she said.

During the protest, Shauqat Mukadam, Noor's father and former ambassador, said: "My daughter is no more but I am fighting the case for other women of the country."

Trial of Noor's murder case

Twenty-seven-year-old Noor was brutally murdered on July 20 in an upscale residence of Islamabad.

A first information report was registered against Zahir Jaffer, who was arrested from the site of the murder, under Section 302 (premeditated murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the victim's father.

The police submitted the challan of on September 9 after several delays. It is also expected that charges may be framed against the suspects.

Currently, Zahir Jaffer and his parents Zakir and Asmat Jaffer are in custody.

Zakir's parents filed a post-arrest bail plea in the Islamabad High Court against rejection of their petition by a session court. The hearing was ongoing.
