      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Renowned writer Ashfaq Ahmed was remembered on his 17th death anniversary on Tuesday with tributes paid to his services in the field of Urdu literature.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;On the occasion, a social media user quoting the chairman of the National Language Authority describing how Ahmed's death “created a vacuum in the literary world of Pakistan”.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Ahmed, who authored more than 20 books during his life time, was born in India on August 22, 1925. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;After migrated to Pakistan, he graduated from the Government College Lahore in Urdu literature where he met Bano Qudsia, who was also an eminent writer. They later married.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;His works included novels, short stories and plays for television and radio as well. Among his renown books are &lt;em&gt;Gadarya, Aik Muhabbat Soo Afsaney&lt;/em&gt; and &lt;em&gt;Manchaley ka Sauda&lt;/em&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;He was awarded President's Pride of Performance and Sitara-e-Imtiaz for meritorious services in the field of literature and broadcasting.&lt;/p&gt;
