The newly elected speaker of the assembly was also sworn in.

A joint candidate of opposition parties, Pakistan People’s Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Faisal Mumtaz, secured 15 votes, while two votes were rejected.

PTI’s candidate Javed Gujjar will contest for the position of deputy speaker against the opposition’s joint candidate Nisaran Abbasi.

Out of the 52 members of the assembly, 49 members took oath of the new duties, while three members — Muslim Conference leader Sardar Atiq Ahmed Khan and Pakistan Peoples’ Party leaders Javed Iqbal Buddhanwi and Chaudhry Yaseen — were not present during the session.
