Pakistan's daily coronavirus case count crossed the 5,000 mark according to the daily tweet released by National Command and Operation Centre as it reported 5,026 new infections in the last 24 hours on Sunday.

The positivity rate in the country stands at 8.82%. It also reported 62 deaths which brings the total number of deaths from Covid to 23, 422

In the last 24 hours, 56,965 coronavirus tests were conducted of which 5,026 tested positive. This is the highest it's been since April.

The new figures brings the total number of recoveries to 941,659 and the number of active cases to 69,756.

Of the 62 deaths,, 30 were reported in Sindh, 18 in Punjab, 6 in KP, 2 in Islamabad, and 3 each in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

In Sindh meanwhile, which was imposed under partial lockdown on Saturday, scenes of people breaking through Karachi's Expo Center to get vaccinated went viral and prompted concerns of the administration's poor handling.

A video of people breaking through the doors as hapless police look on has raised questions about the administration's seriousness in tackling the virus.

The popular social media group Haalat Updates also tweeted updates on Expo Centre on Sunday:

The Sindh government's decision to block SIMs of unvaccinated people has reportedly led to the rush of people wanting to get vaccinated

Addressing a press conference on Saturday, adviser to Chief Minister, Murtaza Wahab said 185,406 people got vaccinated against Covid-19 in the last 24 hours which he described as a big number.
