Pakistan condemns India's politicization of KPL

Pakistani officials took to Twitter to condemn India's cricket board's warning to foreign players not to play in the upcoming Kashmir Premier League.

Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson Zahid Chaudhri said it was regrettable that young Kashmiri players could not learn from other players.

He was responding to reports in which Herschelle Gibbs said India's Board of Control for Cricket in India had warned him against playing in the upcoming Kashmir Premier League T20 due to start in Muzaffarad on August 6.

Prior to Gibbs' tweet, Rashid Latif took to Twitter to express his disappointment with BCCI.

Herschelle Gibbs, Matt Prior, Phil Mustard, Owais Shah, Tenu Best and Monty Panesar have asked not to play in the KPL following BCCI's warning. The English and African boards stopped their players from taking part in the KPL until further orders.

The KPL consists of six teams: Overseas Warriors, Muzaffarabad Tigers, Rawalakot Hawks, Bagh Stallions, Mirpur Royals, Kotli Lions.

The Foreign Office spokesperson wasn't the only one to condemn BCCI's warning regarding the KPL tournament. Information Minister Fawad Chaudhury chimed in too, criticizing Modi government for putting cricket on the line to push his agenda.

KPL has said the tournament will continue with Pakistani players.
