According to Justice for Noor's Twitter account, the fund has been halted, saying the amount is very generous and thanking the donors.

Tariq Ghaffar, a cousin-in-law of Noor, launched the campaign and has now disabled it, having reached close to $50,000 they were raising for legal expenses.

In the write up for the fund, he wrote "The circumstances surrounding her gruesome death, the torment, and the terror that she must have felt in her final hours make us all wish we could do something to save her. But we couldn’t."

It goes onto say: "The abduction, torture, and manner in which Noor’s life was finally taken defy all notions of humanity. After he was discovered alone with the body and the murder weapon, you would assume that Zahir would swiftly and effortlessly be brought to justice. But due to the broken system that we are a part of, that may not be so simple."

Noor's gruesome murder has shaken people all across the country and raised questions around the infrastructure and laws that do not accord women safety and justice.

Addressing this aspect, the funding campaign writes: "We, as friends of Noor, are launching this campaign so that as her family grieves their beautiful daughter, they do not have to carry the additional burden of worrying about how they will afford the legal representation they need for bringing Noor’s killer to justice.

"Going by past experience, this will likely be a lengthy process, spread over multiple stages of litigation. Our total has been calculated to account for all of this, and all proceeds raised through this platform will be used to directly fight Noor’s case. In the event that any funds remain, they will be directed to aid victims of domestic violence.

The campaign lists the donations, which ranged from $5 to %200, some with their names and some choosing to remain anonymous.
