      <title>Karachi receives first monsoon rain &amp; power outages

      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;After a hot spell, Karachi residents woke up to rain which was forecast for July 15. And with the rain came power outages across the city.&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;People took to social media to share scenes from various neighborhoods as well as the inconveniences it brought with it. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Last week, Karachi Met Director Sardar Sarfaraz predicted rain was expected in the city to take place from July 15 – 17. He estimated somewhere between 10-22 mm of rain during the first spell. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;It is likely to rain throughout the next few days with it becoming more intense Wednesday onward, according to a meteorologist on Monday. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Power outages&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Within moments of rain many people across the city said they experienced power outages. Karachi Electric tweeted they were monitoring the situation.&lt;/p&gt;
