Khan's OBL statement was a 'slip of tongue': Fawad Chaudhry

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Saturday said Prime Minister Imran Khan's statement on Osama Bin Laden was a "slip of the tongue", reported Geo News.

Referring to when the premier called slain al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden a martyr on the assembly floor in June last year, the federal minister said that Pakistan considers Bin Laden a militant and the al-Qaeda as a terrorist outfit.

While speaking to anchor Saleem Safi on the Geo News show Jirga to be aired tonight, Fawad Chaudhry said "Pakistan has sacrificed the most in the war against terrorism."

The federal Minister said Pakistan is committed to fighting against terrorism and a voter "on the [UN] list that declared Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda terrorists."

Earlier Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, while giving an interview to an Afghan outlet, had said that the prime minister's remarks on Osama Bin Laden were taken out of context.
