Punjab/ Covid: 898 cases and 64 deaths reported in the past 24 hours

This week, Punjab has seen a dip in daily cases' tallies. In the past 24 hours, 898 new infections were reported in the most populous province of Pakistan, meaning almost 300 fewer cases than those reported a day earlier.

As of today, the latest coronavirus situation of Punjab is as follows:

Total Cases: 332,000
New Cases (Last 24 hours): 898

Total Deaths: 9,704
New Deaths (Last 24 hours): 64

Recoveries: 297,179

<picture></picture>

This welcome decline in cases is mainly due to strict lockdown measures put in place by local authorities across Punjab.

Novel coronavirus has been rampant in Punjab especially in the ongoing third surge as the province has reported the most number of cases among all the provinces of Pakistan. Also, almost 50% of the country's documented coronavirus-related fatalities belong to Punjab.

The PTI-led government of Punjab is utilizing its maximum resources to curb the spread of the viral infection and amping up its vaccination capacity every week. Although a decrease in new cases is a sigh of relief for the local authorities, there is still a lot more to do for the provincial government to keep the Covid in check in the next few weeks.
