Coronavirus: 4,723 new cases and 84 new deaths reported

Islamabad: According to the latest statistics shared by the Ministry of National Health Services, a total of 50,186 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in Pakistan. Out of these 4,723 returned positive. This takes the total cases to 682,888. The number of Covid casualties reported yesterday was 84, taking the total casualties to 14,697.

In the last 24 hours, the coronavirus positivity ratio remained around 9.4% in Pakistan.

Active cases have reached 58,500 in the country.

<picture></picture>

The third wave of coronavirus in Pakistan is proving to be quite deadly as dozens of casualties are being reported daily. It must be noted that documented figures are nowhere near the actual numbers as most people don't get treatment at hospitals and their work up for Covid-19 is incomplete.

Of late, Pakistan has ramped up its daily testing capacity. For the past three days, over 50,000 tests have been conducted daily. The number is still low but the increase in daily testing is good news.
