National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), the country's nerve center for unified efforts against coronavirus, on Friday has shared that no deviation in the positivity ratio among children has been noticed as the country struggles with the 3rd wave.

The NCOC issued this statement after reports has started to circulate that the third wave of COVID-19 is affecting children more drastically as compared to the previous waves.

"NCOC took stock of reported surge in COVID positivity cases in children. There is no deviation in positivity ratio in children as compared to previous waves statistics. During all three waves, the infection ratio in children aged between 1-10 years remained around 3% of total cases."

However, data shared by Punjab Health Department reveals that the positivity ratio amongst children has increased in the third wave.

4,133 children have reportedly contracted coronavirus in the last three months in Lahore, while 4,257 coronavirus cases were reported in the provincial capital altogether last year.
