FATF Keeps Pakistan in grey list for 4 months

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) on Thursday has decided to keep Pakistan on its 'grey list', with the country's status set to be reviewed next in June 2021.

The announcement was made by FATF President Dr Marcus Pleyer at a press briefing on the outcomes of the FATF's four-day plenary meeting.

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) said that Pakistan remains under "increased monitoring" when it comes to terror financing, therefore, it will remain on the grey list until June 2021.

FATF recognises Pakistan's counterterrorism and anti-money laundering efforts but says it needs to do more.

Pakistan's delegation in the FATF Plenary was led by Chairman FATF Coordination Committee Muhammad Hammad Azhar.

In its plenary meeting held today (Thursday), FATF has stated that to date, Pakistan has made progress across all action plan items and has now largely addressed 24 of the 27 action items.

The FATF has also acknowledged the continued high-level political commitment of Pakistan to combat terrorist financing.
