Punjab govt. to emulate KP's Sehat Card Scheme vows Dr. Yasmin

Health minister of Punjab Dr. Yasmin Rashid hailed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government's Sehat Card scheme and vowed to emulate it in Punjab.

She took to Twitter today and shared her views, writing:

Every citizen of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa now has access to a health card. Citizens of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will now be able to get free treatment up to Rs. 1 million in selected hospitals across Pakistan.

Regarding the expansion of the Sehat card scheme in Punjab and other regions of Pakistan, she wrote:

By the end of this year, God willing, every family in Punjab will also have a health card. Health coverage for its entire population is no mean feat achieved by the PTI-led government in KP. In 7 years, we have done what couldn't be done by others despite being in multiple tenures. Alhamdolillah! In sha Allah we will soon be able to extend this to all Pakistan

Earlier in the day KP's health minister announced that as of February 1, every citizen of the province has health coverage. He tweeted:

Feb 1; a special day for each of 40 million residents of Pakhtunkhwa across Pakistan; today, all KP has access to the KP Sehat Card Plus program. Today, KP has Universal Health Insurance, a first in Pakistan & the region, & proof that if we dream big, we can achieve more than we believe!

It's an amazing achievement by the PTI-led KP government. Prime Minister Imran Khan also felicitated the provincial government via Twitter, writing:

Congratulations to the KP govt for making KP the first province in Pak with Universal Health Coverage for all KP-domiciled citizens. 40,000,000 residents are covered with free health insurance. Free treatment up to Rs1,000,000 per family per year in over 400 govt/private hospitals across Pakistan.
