      <title>OGRA approves gas price hike

      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) gave go-ahead for increasing gas tariffs for the consumers of Punjab and KP.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The authority okayed Rs315.60 per MMBTU surge, making the consumers bear the burden of Rs233 billion. Ogra gave the approval a day after it accepted the request made by Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC).&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Ogra sent the revised prices to the Centre, making consumers in Sindh and Balochistan bear an additional burden of Rs14 billion with effect from July 01, 2020, with the average increase of Rs39.89 per MMBTU. The decision drew ire among the opposition and civil society members.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Ahmad Shaikh took swipe at Ogra and raised the demand &lt;/p&gt;
