ECP to hold open hearing of foreign funding case after scrutiny committee's report

Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Saturday declared that an open hearing of foreign funding case will be held after the scrutiny committee submits its report, reported Dunya TV. The decision came two days after ECP ruled out making the scrutiny committee's proceedings public.

According to the details, the spokesperson of the commission maintained that the working of the scrutiny committee cannot be made public, However, the case hearing at ECP is already conducted in the presence of all parties. The process of the case will continue as per the rules, he added.

In a statement issued on Thursday, ECP had requested media to refrain from commenting on on-going proceedings as it could affect the process.

It is important to mention that opposition parties have been demanding an open hearing of the foreign funding case. Prime Minister Imran Khan, while speaking to media in Waziristan this week, also said the funding case should be broadcasted live on TV.
