The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) gave permission to continue two years of bachelor’s and master’s degree programs till 2022.

Vice-Chancellor, the University of Peshawar while talking to a news channel, said the HEC has agreed to continue the programs for the next two years.

He said the students would now have no issue with regard to admissions in these programs up till 2022
.
Earlier the higher education commission had issued the directives to abolish the two years BA/BSc and MA/MSc programs.

All the educational institutes were instructed to stop offering admissions in these degree programs as HEC will not recognize it.

Besides the announcement by the HEC many institutes have been still offering admission in two-year degree programs. Moreover, various universities had also protested against this decision as it will put the students at a disadvantage.
