An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Karachi indicted five suspects belonging to a banned outfit, the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), in the 2018 Chinese consulate attack case, local media reported on Monday.

According to the details, the accused were brought to the court under tight security where the ATC judge read out charges to the arrested accused who pleaded not guilty. During the hearing, the court issued notices to the investigation officer of the case and prosecution witnesses to appear in court to record their statements.

The ATC also declared 15 members of BLA as absconders including Marri, Alidad Buledi, Commander Sharif, Rashid Hussain, and Sameer. The indicted accused include Ahmed Hasnain, Nadir Khan, Ali Ahmed, Abdul Latif, and Aslam.

The attack:

On November 23, 2018, three suicide attackers stormed the Chinese consulate in Karachi amid a series of gunshots and an explosion. The attackers were shot dead before they could force their way in with a car packed with explosives.

The attack, claimed by separatist insurgents of BLA, killed four people, including two police officers. Further investigations revealed the involvement of the Research and Analysis Wing, the Indian spy agency.
