An accountability court in Quetta on Wednesday issued bailable arrest warrants of former Chief Minister of Balochistan Nawab Aslam Raisani, after he failed to appear before the court.

According to the details, warrants were issued after the politician failed to appear before the court in a case of alleged misappropriation in government funds.

Raisani was named by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) along with seven other accused including former minister’s close aide, Abdul Nabi Raisani, Nawabzada Lashkari Raisani, and former secretary finance Balochistan Dostain Jamaldini for embezzlement of Rs1 billion funds in the name of renovation and development of an ancient archaeological site in the Balochistan. NAB had filed the reference in Quetta's accountability court against the former CM and others in November.

While hearing the case today, the accountability court judge granted petitions of Nawabzada Lashkari Raisani and Dostain Jamaldini seeking exemption from the court hearing and issued arrest orders for Aslam Raisani and Abdul Nabi Raisani.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case until further notice.
