According to the details, the PML-N workers broke the lock of the gate and entered the park along with the equipment to install the stage for the public rally.

The move came a day after the government had decided against permitting opposition to hold a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan in wake of increasing coronavirus cases and security threats. The Lahore's deputy commissioner, on Friday, had turned down an application submitted by PML-N to hold the gathering on Minar-e-Pakistan's grounds.

In a letter to the PDM, the deputy commissioner said that the government has imposed a ban on public gatherings of more than 300 people due to rapidly spreading coronavirus. He said permission can not be granted to the PDM because the COVID-19 positivity rate in Lahore has already shot up to 7.8 percent.
