      <title>Begum Shamim Akhtar's funeral prayer offered in Lahore

      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Funeral prayer of Begum Shamim Akhtar, mother of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif', was offered in Lahore today at the Sharif Medical City Raiwind. She passed away in London on November 22 at the age of 89 after developing a chest infection.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The funeral prayer was led by Maulana Raghim Naeemi and attended by scores of PML-N leaders and workers. She will be laid to rest at the Sharif family’s ancestral graveyard next to her husband Mian Mohammad Sharif.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;PML-N had earlier announce the time for the prayers.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Begum Shamim Akhtar's body was sent to Pakistan from London, where she was residing with her eldest son and deposed premier, via British Airways flight BA-059. Her body was received by her younger son Mian Shahbaz Sharif and grandson Hamza Shahbaz; both are out on a &lt;a href="https://www.aaj.tv/news/30248449/"&gt;five-day-parole on a humanitarian basis to pay their respect to the departed soul.&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif, other family members and former finance minister Ishaq Dar were in attendance besides other colleagues. Keeping in view the coronavirus SOPs, only 30 people were allowed inside the mosque for the funeral prayer.&lt;/p&gt;
