In the last 24 hours, a staggering 233,513 new coronavirus cases and 3,738 new deaths were reported in the US. Both of these tallies were, by far, the highest in the world. It's no surprise as the country is the worst hit by the novel coronavirus among all the nations.

Although all states have reported thousands of coronavirus cases in the US, some states are hit quite severely by the flu bug. The five states that have found it toughest to thwart the spread of the viral disease in the last twelve months are as follows:
