WEB DESK: You may or may not want to be a part of night shifts but one can't say no when they are asked to come during late hours.Â

It is disturbing to learn that overnight shifts could be bad for a person's overall health, says a newest study. The research further tells, people who work in late hours have 29% more risk of being overweight than the ones who work at day-time.

Moreover, in the study it was highlighted that among other types of obesity, abdominal obesity is also higher in later night workers. These people are more prone to developing obesity than people who work in rotational shifts.

Also, it has been found out by different studies that making slight changes in the routine might reduce the risks linked with weight gain. Plus, a senior research author, Dr Lap Ah Tse revealed around 0.7 billion people are working in night shift globally. However, changes in regime can do wonders for ailing health.

Lastly, it is note worthy here that being over weight is dangerous for overall and everyone's health. It is the cause of several other diseases i.e., cancer, arthritis, and heart disease.

Note: Above research was originally published in Obesity reviews journal.Â
