In recognition of my efforts: GoPb takes me to Turkey

I started my third day in Turkey from a visit to Ghazi University. The entire delegation sent by Government of the Punjab in recognition of our distinctions regardless of the provinces we belong to, was very excited.

Infact, everyday was extraordinarily excited because we were shown some extraordinary places in Turkey and we still had to go to Germany and UK. We reached there after a short time and were shown into the hall by our hosts Bahattin Aslan and Alsi Bzlan. We were briefed about various aspects of Ghazi University and the reasons why it was different from other state universities.

We were told that it was founded in 1926 by Mustafa Kamal Ataturk himself and “Ghazi” was taken from his name. It is included in Turkey’s top 5 universities and nearly 81,000 students are enrolled there.

Ghazi University has one of the best kept libraries in Turkey. ‘Ghazi Central Library’ was established in 1982 and has fully automated working. This helps to rid of the human errors while saving processing time. It houses nearly 250000 books that are taken benefit of by the students. There was a Chinese library as well, with over 4000 books and e books. After the library we were taken around the physics and biology labs and awakened classroom. We saw how things went on there. With this our tour of Ghazi University with the motto “it is a privilege to be a Ghazi student” ended after a healthy interactive session.

Then we arrived at HACEPETTE University. We were received and given presentation about programmes offered at the university. We were told about the requirement criteria for admission and time spans of programmes. After this presentation there was an interactive session.

As this was the first university of our visit that offered degrees specifically in medical sciences i.e. dentistry, medicine and pharmacy, medical students were particularly excited about it. We asked our minds out and our hosts tried to satisfy us. We discovered that working was nearly similar to the medical colleges in Pakistan.

Next we were taken around the lab and saw dummy patients that were used by students for practice. We were amazed to see their working. We were briefed about the examination system and the hospital complex that included adult and children hospital. We felt that motto “academic excellence” was justified.

Ghazi has great amount of diversity in terms of courses and students and the campus is well built with a very serene environment. Automated library systems should be introduced as we saw there as it can be really beneficial. Although the course of HACETTEPE University is more or less similar to Pakistani medical universities. Our country has raw human resource that only needs to be channelized to be

influential and research introduction can get the much needed exposure. And the efforts of Chief

Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif have made it all possible in Pakistan, and the credit goes to him for

hosting us to a new world of exposure
