WEB DESK: You may have seen many married couples but have you ever notice why in most cases they alike ? It is interlinked with science. And, yes, we have found the reason behind it.Â

It was a general believe that these couples more look like siblings than spouse because of human tendency to marry people with similar ancestry but recent research has explored something else.

The researchers from different university i.e University of Pennsylvania, Boston University School of Public Health and University of California have carried out a study consist of 800 participating couples with various genetic backgrounds and ancestry.

The results were undoubtedly surprising, as the authors write,"Until recently, most people selected a spouse from within their local community, and that person often had the same ancestry,” adding, “the genetic structure created by these mating patterns in the population has decreased over time."

Moreover, it has not found out yet that why selecting partner from same background is getting less? but there are chances that it is happening due to increasing globalization and vast internet access.

Also, looking alike your partner won't be stopped no matter whom we are marrying with. In an earlier study it has been figured out when the pictures of couples were taken as newlyweds and again after some years. The photographs left everyone in shocked. For example, a person laughs and make his partner laugh too then they both can develop laugh lines later in life. Hence, partners do look alike.
