Irrfan Khan's joke lands Saba Qamar in grave danger

WEB DESK: Saba Qamar is the latest Pakistani actor to become the victim of hostility between Pakistan and India. Ever since the Uri attacks, the situation between the two neighbors has worsened leading to a ban on Pakistani actors working in India.

Considering the ban, Saba's co-star in her Bollywood debut movie Hindi Medium, Irrfan Khan was asked by journalists to comment on whether the Lahore Se Aagey star was still part of the movie.

Given the ban on Pakistani artistes, he was questioned about her presence.

Trying his best to avoid being misquoted, Irrfan joked about the situation and said that since Saba married an Indian in the movie she was now, in fact, an Indian. Irrfan candidly remarked, "I think maybe Saba Qamar has married someone here in India. She is an Indian now. I heard it somewhere."

It was meant to be a joke but has now drawn unsolicited attention towards Saba, who is now receiving death threats with her fellow countrymen who are convinced that she has indeed married an Indian. Ouch

Ouch!
