The 14th death anniversary of the vibrant, young and charming Pop Singer Nazia Hassan is being commemorated today all over South Asia, especially in Pakistan and India.

Brought up in Karachi and London, Nazia Hassan was born on 3^rd April 1965 into a Muslim family in Karachi.

Nazia’s song “Aap Jaisa Koi Nai”from the Indian film “Qurbani” made her a renowned  singer in Pakistan and South Asia in the 80’s.

Her debut album, “Disco Deewane” became the best selling Asian Pop record until that time.

Nazia’s youthful good looks, melodic voice and pacey beats caused a sensation and she became the youngest winner of a Film fare Award.

The youthful teenage was the first Pakistani to win a Film Fare Award when 15 and still retains the honor of being the youngest winner of Film Fare Award in the category of Best Female Playback Singer to date.

The loving sister of two siblings Zohaib Hassan and Zahra Hassan, she was also awarded with Pride of Performance, Double Platinum Award and Gold Discs Award.

Unfortunately, the sub continental princess was not destined to live long and passed away at the age of only 35 on August 13 in the year 2000 after fighting a long battle with the fatal disease of lung cancer. She is buried at Hendon Cemetery London.

Undoubtedly, Nazia will remain ever young and beautiful in our minds. She is really missed because she wasn’t just a star. In fact, she was a part of people’s lives. She was an inspiration, a role model, a person to look up to. She was a magical singer and her songs still retain that magic.
